A hiker is well rewarded for a steep descent down a mountain with a powerful 35 ft river wide waterfall on the Elk River at Compression Falls. I visited on a bright sunny day and included some sun bathers at the top to help show the true scale.
My fascination with photography began in 2008. It began with a need to get out more and get more exercise, which led me on hikes to several of North Carolina's waterfalls. Amazed and taken by the beauty, and the power of falling water, I began to seek out and hike to more. Wanting to capture images of these beautiful waterfalls, I purchased my first digital camera, a cheap Sony pocket camera. Since that time, I am now on my fourth camera and my 2nd DSLR. I have also learned much along the way, about properly taking photos and processing them, with still much more to learn.
